Best Mexico Destinations Non-Stop Flight from Seattle
Once the time zone changes in November and clocks “fall back” one hour, I tend to get a little antsy. Although I have become accustomed to the darkness in Seattle during the winter, I still need my mini getaway from Seattle to somewhere sunny (preferably, international and non-stop flight). Which is why I travel to Mexico during the winter for a mini vacation. There are several airlines that offer non-stop flights to Mexico from Seattle like, Alaska Airlines, AeroMexico and more. Here are some of the best Mexico destinations with non-stop flight from Seattle.
Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico
First, I’ll start with the shortest flight option, which happens to be a coastal town called Cabo San Lucas. Cabo San Lucas is an excellent spot to escape Seattle for the winter, as it’s only a 4 hour non-stop flight from Seattle and offers beach town vibes. Cabo San Lucas offers wonderful weather averaging 77°F (25°C) degree F in the winter.
Additionally, there are plenty of things to do when visiting Cabo San Lucas. Cabo San Lucas is located in Baja California Sur and offers a dry climate next to the beach. You can find activities like enjoying the beautiful beaches, zip-lining, ATV adventures, sailing to the famous arch and enjoying the nightlife.

Cancún, Yucatán, Mexico
Next up is Cancún, Mexico. Cancún is also a great option if you’re looking for warm, tropical weather. Seattle offers plenty of direct flights to Cancún and takes about 6 hours to arrive. Cancún offers plenty of hotels to enjoy the amazing weather.
Things to do in Cancún include, beach resorts, nightlife, swimming in centotes, exploring Yucatán ruins like Chichén Itzá archeological site, sailing to near by islands on a catamaran and snorkeling. Additionally, there are some wonderful near by towns that are worth the visit like Tulum, Isla Mujeres, Playa del Carmen, Valladolid and Merida.

Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico
Most people tend to stick to beach destinations when visiting Mexico and although the beaches in Mexico are gorgeous, exclusively visiting beach destinations in Mexico is a mistake. If you’re someone who loves immersing yourself in authentic, cultural experiences like dancing, architecture and food, I would recommend that you explore beyond Mexican beach destinations, and Guadalajara would be a great start. Conveniently, Alaska Airlines offers direct flights to Guadalajara which take about 5 hours.
During the early months of winter, Guadalajara can be characterized by dry, 80°F days which are perfect for wandering around Guadalajara’s city center. Additionally, leading up to Christmas there are extra festivals and celebrations. Furthermore, the excitement can also lead to higher hotel rates than at other times of the year. Meanwhile, January thru March offers sunny 75°F days and lower hotel rates.
Many people may not know that Guadalajara is the birth place of Mariachi music, Chivas soccer team and Tequila. Not only that, but Guadalajara is considered the Silicon Valley of Mexico and has a very young population which creates a vibrant city energy. Guadalajara is arguably one of the most romantic cities in Mexico as Guadalajara features the best of Pritzker Prize-winning architect Luis Barragán’s early work, who is known for his Mexican-Arabic-Islamic style.
With the towns of Chapala, Tlaquepaque and Tequila being a short day trip away, there is so much to do when visiting Guadalajara. Check out this blog post for things to do in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Mexico City, Mexico
And then there is Mexico City. I will admit, I might be biased to Mexico City, as it was the first place I traveled as a female solo traveler in 2015. I chose Mexico City because I was allured by the rich history, vibrant culture and the amazing food. To this day, Mexico city one of my favorite places to travel to in the world.
Mexico City is about a 5.5 hour non-stop flight from Seattle. During the winter you can expect the weather to be between 71.6°F (22°C) down to a low of 45.1°F (7.3°C) . The relative humidity ranges from 54 to 66%, allowing visitors to navigate the cityscape in relative comfort. The best part about Mexico City is that sunshine hours persist around 11 to 11.7 hours during this window, immersing the city in vibrant light. Rainfall is least disruptive during this period, descending from a meager 0.79″ (20mm) to an almost negligible 0.16″ (4mm). Since the temperature fluctuates quiet a but during the day, layers are always a good idea.
The best part about Mexico City is that you won’t run out of things to do. Mexico City is like the romantic version of New York City due to all the beautiful Spanish colonial architecture. Mexico City is highly regarded for it’s gastronomy and offers a bold flavor profile of wonderful traditional dishes. Things to do in Mexico City include, visiting Aztec ruins, watching lucha libre, visiting Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul and catching a ride on the floating gardens at Xochimilco. It goes without saying that, Mexico City is an enormous place to explore and offers an abundance of things to do. Here are 35+ things to do in Mexico City.

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico
Last but certainly not least, is Puerto Vallarta. Puerto Vallarta is found in at the most northern beach town of the sate of Jalisco . It’s known for its beaches, Malecón board walk and the romantic zone (Zona Romantica) You can expect lows of 62°F (16°C) and highs of 80°F (26°C).
Puerto Vallarta offers hilly, narrow, cobblestone streets adorned with colorful papel picado lining the streets. It’s no wonder that it has landed a reputation for one of the best honeymoon destinations. With dramatic cliffs, vibrant nightlife and great food, what’s not to love about it.
Things to do in Puerto Vallarta include, eating some of the best tacos, enjoying authentic churros, walking along the beaches, enjoying unreal sunsets and exploring the islands near by. If time allows it, Sayulita and San Pancho are sleepy surfer towns about an hour north of Puerto Vallarta that are worth the trek.
